Here's how money gets into a campaign, and what happens to it once it's there.

Money goes into a campaign inside Whop, a new campaign's first payment is its budget of at least $1,000 and any later top up is $100 or more, and every clip you approve draws from that budget as it settles, creator payout and platform fee together. Nothing is billed monthly. The one way money comes back out is a refund request on unspent budget, which our team reviews.

Before you start

Open Content Rewards from your Whop dashboard, because both the Top up dialog and the Fund and launch step end with "Funding is only available inside Whop". A new campaign asks for its budget on the summary page at the end of the wizard; a running campaign takes a top up from its card or its page.

Steps

  1. Open Campaigns and press Top up on the campaign.

  2. Set the amount under Budget to add, by typing it or with the quick add buttons. The dialog shows the current budget, the budget added, the payment processing estimate and the total charged, and it says "Minimum is $100."

  3. Press Top up and complete the payment in Whop. The budget is on the campaign as soon as Whop confirms the charge.

What the budget pays for

Every clip the campaign's team approves draws from the budget as it settles, and the draw is the creator's payout plus our platform fee on it, so a budget of $1,000 pays creators about $909 at the standard fee. Payment processing is Whop's fee on money coming in, shown before you confirm, and separate from the budget. A pending clip that has passed the campaign's minimum already has its earnings set aside from the budget, and a rejection returns them.

When the budget runs out

The campaign pauses and comes off Discover: no new submissions, approved clips stop earning on new views, and money already set aside still settles. A top up restarts all of it. When to add more is in the next section.

When to add budget

Add budget when

Effective CPM is at or below your target, submissions are steady or rising, a few creators are repeat top performers, at least one has sent three or more clips, and you can describe the hook that works in one sentence.

Change something first when

Submissions are quiet, which points at the rate; most submissions are being rejected, which points at the brief; or pending clips sit for days, which points at the review pace. Fix the one the numbers point at, then add budget when it moves.

When you add, add enough to matter, because the creators who are working need room to keep going, and add it to the same campaign rather than launching a second one: the creators who found you stay, their clips keep earning, and the campaign keeps its place. The numbers behind those signals are in Which numbers to watch on a campaign.

Getting unspent budget back

Open the campaign, open its menu, and use Hold to request refund. Approve or reject every pending clip first, because a refund request comes after the queue is clear. The campaign pauses at once, so no new clips or earnings, while clips you already approved still pay out, and the request shows on the campaign as Refund requested, then Refund in review, until our team decides; approval is not automatic. If approved, the unspent budget returns to your balance less an administrative hold, which is usually 10% of the unspent amount and can be up to 20%. Whop's processing fee is not refunded.

What happened

What to do

Top up does nothing, or says funding is only available inside Whop

Open Content Rewards from your Whop dashboard rather than a browser tab, and try again.

The payment went through but the budget did not change

Give it a minute and refresh. If it is still unchanged, send support the campaign name and the Whop receipt through Help & Support.

That's the money side. When you're ready to spend it well, Write a brief creators will follow is next.
