How your payout fees work

The flat 10% taken when a payout settles, and where to see it on your earnings.

Written by CR Support

What comes off your earnings, when it comes off, why your own maths can land on a different number, and how to check any payout yourself.

The short version: one flat 10%, taken when a payout settles. Nothing else comes off on our side.

How your payout fees work

The one rule, and its one exception

We take a flat 10% of each payout. That is the whole fee. It applies the same way on every CPM campaign, whatever you earn and however many campaigns you are in.

The exception is per post and retainer campaigns, where the fee depends on how big the campaign's budget is rather than on what you earn. On a large enough campaign it disappears entirely. That is covered below.

Campaigns that started on the previous version of Content Rewards can still show their original 7%. Nothing about those campaigns changed when the new version launched, so if a payout row shows 7%, that is correct and it is the rate that applies to that clip.

What comes off a CPM payout

On CPM campaigns the fee is a flat 10% of what the clip earns. The rate you see on the campaign is the rate before our fee, so it is worth doing the sum once to see where the two numbers meet.

A clip on a campaign paying $1.75 per 1,000 views, which finishes on 8,000 views:

A worked example

Views counted

8,000

Rate

$1.75 per 1,000 views

Total earned

$14.00

Creator fee, 10%

− $1.40

Received

$12.60

The fee comes off at the moment the payout settles, not when the clip is approved, which is why an approved clip can show a total before it shows a received amount.

What comes off per post and retainer

Here the fee depends on the campaign's total budget, not on what you personally earn. Two cases, and that is the whole rule:

The rule for per post and retainer

Campaign budget

Creator fee

Under $5,000

10%

$5,000 or more

None

So the same $50 post pays you $45 on a $3,000 campaign, and the full $50 on an $8,000 one. The budget is set by the brand, so it can differ from one campaign to the next even when the rate looks the same.

Check the fee on any payout

Every amount on your Earnings page is already shown after the fee. To see the breakdown behind one of them:

  1. Open Earnings.

  2. Find the row for the clip you want to check.

  3. Press View details.

A paid payout with Total earned, Creator fee and Received

Three numbers appear. Total earned is the amount before our fee. Creator fee is what was taken. Received is what reached your Content Rewards Balance. Total earned minus Creator fee always equals Received.

What we do not take

There is no subscription, no listing fee and no charge for having an account. We do not take anything when you move money out of Content Rewards. The 10% is the only thing we take, and it only applies to money you have actually earned, so a clip that is never approved never costs you anything.

Is there a fee to withdraw?

Not from us. It is two withdrawals, and they only happen in that order.

  1. From your Content Rewards Balance to your Whop Balance. This is free.

  2. From your Whop Balance to wherever you want the money, a bank account, PayPal or a wallet.

Only that second withdrawal carries a fee, and it is the payment provider's, not ours. A standard transfer costs less than an instant one, so if you are not in a hurry, take the standard option.

If the number is not what you expected

Work down this list before writing in. Most gaps are one of the first two.

  1. Compare against Total earned, not the campaign rate. The rate is what the clip earns before the fee. Total earned on the payout row is the figure the fee is taken from.

  2. Check which fee applies. CPM is a flat 10%. Per post and retainer depend on the campaign budget. A previous-version campaign may still be on 7%.

  3. Check whether it has paid yet. On CPM a clip pays once, on the tenth day after approval, and until then the panel shows the amount as Pending rather than Received; a retainer pays once per cycle.

If the Creator fee line still does not match the rates above, send us the clip link and we will break the payout down for you.
